The park covers 546 hectares and straddles part of the municipalities of Montesquiu, Sora, Sant Quirze de Besora and Santa Maria de Besora in the eastern Pre-Pyrenees.
The castle is the park’s most iconic symbol. From the outset, the Montesquiu stronghold, which first appears in records in 1285, was designed as the residence of the lords of Besora.
The gardens around the castle are an attractive setting, with conifers in the lower area and the more classic landscaping of the grounds closest to the building.
